Grupo BAL companies join volunteer programs for the 2024-2025 school year

  • Thanks to donations from SECOBAL, Profuturo, and El Palacio de Hierro, more than 1,500 students in Xoco and Iztapalapa received school supply packages.
  • The second edition of the “Transforming as a Community” leadership program includes volunteer mentors from GNP Seguros, SECOBAL, and Valmex.

The Alberto Baillères Foundation is strengthening its collaboration with Grupo BAL companies to promote the creation of spaces of learning and well-being in various education communities. This is why, for the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, SECOBAL and Profuturo donated 1,200 packages of school supplies for both morning and afternoon session students at the Secundaria Luis Pasteur (Secondary School), located in Santa María Aztahuacan, Iztapalapa. Volunteers from both companies participated in assembling and delivering these packages. The Fundación EDUCA also supported this process, managing donations.

Volunteers from El Palacio de Hierro visited the neighborhood of Xoco to distribute school supplies at the Primaria Profr. Ponciano Rodríguez (Primary School) and the Secundaria Héroes Navales Mexicanos (Secondary School). More than 300 children and young people benefitted from these actions, spending time with volunteers to express their hopes and commitments for the new school year.

At Escuela Preparatoria Oficial 94 (EPO 94) [Upper Secondary School] in Ecatepec, the second edition of the “Transforming as a Community” leadership program was launched in partnership with Gol por México, an initiative of Fundación Televisa and GNP Seguros. Through this program, 100 top-performing students receive educational grants to continue their studies. At the same time, these students present projects to transform their surroundings.

During this edition, 100 volunteer mentors from GNP Seguros, SECOBAL, and Valmex will accompany the young beneficiaries at EPO 94 throughout the school year, helping them develop their social leadership skills. To this end, they will hold virtual sessions each month. As part of team-building activities for mentorship pairs, a team activity was held on the grounds of this upper secondary school.

In this way, volunteer programs with Grupo BAL companies are diversifying and contributing to guaranteeing a quality education in the education communities where the Foundation’s Social Model is being implemented
